At PfP, volunteers are often needed for specific tasks at our Recovery Center Campus, as well as at various fundraising and service projects.

The Places for People Survivors of Torture program needs volunteers who are available to help the people we serve prepare for the U.S. Citizenship Exam. Exam components include Civics, Reading, and Writing. (No foreign language experience is necessary.) You would be helping survivors of torture from around the world, including: Afghanistan, Bosnia, Burundi, Dem. Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Rwanda and Somalia.
Requirements for Volunteering as a Tutor:
• Be at Least 18 years of Age
• Commit 1-2 Hours Per Week to Tutoring a Student
• Submit volunteer application and necessary forms to H.R. Director Jaime Greenfield. (The application is available on our website at www.placesforpeople.org.) Discuss your volunteering interests with Community Coordinator Julia Day.
• Undergo a 1-2 Hour Training Session at Places for People (Which Will Take Place at the Tutor’s Convenience)
